Anne Vogel’s U.S. EPA Appointment

Anne Vogel Named U.S. EPA Region 5 Administrator;
John Logue Tapped to Lead Ohio EPA

Anne M. Vogel, director of the Ohio EPA since 2022, has been appointed Region 5 Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In this role, she will oversee six states and the Great Lakes National Program. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin cited her leadership during the East Palestine train derailment as a key reason for her appointment, calling her “the right leader at the right time.”

Vogel said she looks forward to advancing the Trump Administration’s environmental priorities while promoting clean air, water, and land alongside economic growth.

In response to her departure, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced the nomination of John Logue to serve as the next Ohio EPA Director. Logue previously served as administrator/CEO of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and has led major safety and innovation initiatives.

DeWine praised Logue as a proven leader who will continue Ohio’s environmental progress. The nomination is subject to Ohio Senate confirmation.
